Flights being canceled at Ford Airport amid winter storm

Make sure to check your flight information before leaving.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The winter weather storm warning issued for much of West Michigan has caused numerous flights out of the Ford International Airport to be canceled Saturday. 

As of Saturday, Jan. 11 around 9:30 p.m., more than a dozen incoming and outgoing flights have been canceled. Make sure to check your flight information before leaving home.

Heavy rain transitioned to sleet and snow Saturday across West Michigan and much of the Midwest. Chicago airports are experiencing flight cancellations too. 

At Midway, 15 incoming and outgoing flights were canceled Saturday night due to sleet and freezing rain conditions. And at O'Hare, even more flights were canceled halting hundreds of people's travel plans by canceling dozens of flights. 

The anticipated winter storm has also caused multiple school districts and churches in West Michigan to cancel weekend activities and services. For the full list of closings, click here
