Record cold is possible through Wednesday. The cold will also be accompanied by a couple rounds of snow.
A weak disturbance arrives Monday evening. It will result in a flare-up of the snow around the region. Very cold air aloft and westerly winds at the surface will bring moderate to even heavy lake-enhanced snow to the area.
The combination of heavy snow and strong westerly winds will make for treacherous travel conditions. Winds will gust in excess of 30 MPH pushing the bands of snow well inland of the lake shore.
Small flake size because of the extreme cold will limit accumulations some. However, much of the advisory area will still end up with between 3 and 6 inches of snow between Monday evening and early Wednesday.
Temperatures will moderate significantly by the end of the week. Right now, it looks like mostly rain will impact West Michigan from a weekend system.
