In 1980 (9 years after the Cooper hijacking), then 8-year-old, Brian Ingram was camping with his parents along the Columbia River in Washington state, when he found a wad of rotting 20-dollar bills buried in the sand. The serial numbers on the money were cross-referenced with the serial numbers of the Cooper ransom money, and it was discovered to be a match.
