Plan a trip to Traverse City this may, celebrate Traverse City Uncorked

The beautiful spring and summer seasons are upon us and there is no shortage of fun things to do in the Traverse City area.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spring time is here and what better way to kick off the season is with a nice glass of wine and a beautiful destination to sip it in.

Traverse City is a year-round destination, with special experiences only available come Spring. The city has a variety of special events lined up and it's the place to be in the upcoming months. 

Not only are there events happening but the beauty of Traverse City draws in a crowd for itself. The Cherry Blossoms cover the region, the water ways are melted, the trails are green for exploring and golf courses are opening as soon as mother nature allows.

The gorgeous views will take your breathe away and so will Traverse City Uncorked! May is Michigan Wine Month and Traverse City will be hosting their month-long celebration which involves all 40 of the wineries throoughout the Traverse Wine Coast. 

The Traverse City Uncorked package is available when you book your stay at any participating lodging properties. With your stay you receive a super ticket, which includes a free single tasting for two at all participating Traverse Wine Coast Wineries.

The month offers ongoing special events, including wine dinners with wine makers, tours and tastings and this year a new Rose challenge downtown.

Looking ahead to summer, the party really starts with Up North Pride in June.

In July, the biggies that everyone loves are the National Cherry Festival and Film Festival. 

Wrapping up summer event, this August Traverse City is hosting their Inaugural Ironman 70.3 Traverse City the Sunday before Labor Day. 

Public Relations and Media Manager from Traverse City Tourism, Jenny Jenness said, it was the fastest Ironman 70.3 to sell out in the race history, so stay tuned for registration details for next year.

For those that want to plan a wine getaway to beautiful Traverse City, below is list of event dates coming up. 

  • May 3: Downtown Traverse City Art Walk, featuring local wines
  • May 9: Rose Challenge
  • May 4-5: Spring Sip & Savor, Leelanau Peninsula
  • May 18: Blossom Day, Old Mission Peninsula
