16 over 60 celebrates those still making a difference in their community

Senior Neighbors is celebrating those over 60 still making a positive impact on their community.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. - When we reach a certain age it can be easy to take a back seat and allow those who are younger to head up the innovations and change in our communities. As we get older, many things become more difficult, and being an active member of the community can take a back seat.

Senior Neighbors, a non-profit focused on enhancing the lives of seniors, is honoring those who are still a force in their neighborhoods, despite their advancing years. The inaugural 16 over 60 Awards Gala will be the organization's premiere event of the year. During the event 16 people over the age of 60 will be recognized for their contributions and impact. Those contributions can be in the form of business excellence, caregiving, or other extraordinary efforts.

Nominations for 16 under 60 will be accepted until June 1. Possible nominees include leaders or mentors in business, politics, philanthropy, or religion. They include volunteers, advocates for senior issues, contributors to the local arts and culture community, healthy living trendsetters, and anyone living their lives to the fullest. You can make a nomination by clicking here and filling out the information.

The Awards Gala will take place at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park on November 14.
