Egg Your Yard fundraiser benefits local veterans

Funds raised will benefit the Heroes Thanking Heroes Program.

With Easter less than a week away, the Easter bunny is getting some extra help in the egg hunt department this year.

Tiffany Steinmann organized an "Egg Your Yard" fundraiser where residents of Cedar Springs and Rockford school districts can purchase eggs that will be hidden in your yard the night before Easter.

Steinmann said, "We'll bring smiles to kids faces all while helping wounded veterans and their families within the Heroes Thanking Heroes program."

Heroes Thanking Heroes allows post 9-11 veterans to work from home.

Steinmann and other volunteers have been stuffing hundreds of eggs and will fan out across northern Kent County on Saturday night to hide the treats.

She said that they sold 1,450 eggs and raised $1,390 for the Heroes Thanking Heroes Program.
