The statistics are almost too difficult to comprehend.
According to the US Census, in Kent County alone, 14.5 percent of the population lives in poverty. One in five Michigan children is “food insecure.” These are children who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
We know that hungry children don’t perform as well in school and are more prone to behavioral or psychological problems.
For those reasons, and many more, Meijer continues its Simply Give Campaign, an effort to re-stock local pantry shelves and feed hungry families.
