
Funeral services in Detroit at the Greater Grace Temple on November 3, 2005, honoring Rosa Parks, lasted seven hours, stretching from late morning into the early darkness. It was a celebration of her life rather than a mourning of her passing. More than three dozen politicians and business and religious leaders shared memories of the woman credited with giving birth to the modern civil rights movement.
