I-94 is closed at Race Road near Jackson after icy roads resulted in multiple crashes and flipped semis, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's office.
Jackson County Undersheriff Christpher Kuhl told the Associated Press that 35 to 45 vehicles are estimated to have been involved.
As units from the sheriff's office, Michigan State Police and Blackman-Leoni Public Safety responded, people were warned to find alternate routes and avoid the area.
Westbound I-94 remained closed between exits 150 and 147 until about 1 p.m, according to the sheriff's office
So far, Schlundt said, there doesn't appear to be many injuries but investigations are still ongoing.
Three people are reported to have minor injuries and were transported to a hospital.
