Unidentified body found in Kalamazoo River

Investigators are now working to identify the man and determine a cause of death.

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police are working to identify the body of a man found in the Kalamazoo River Monday afternoon.

The Township of Kalamazoo Police Department responded to the call of a suspicious object in the river near the 600 block of Commerce Lane in Kalamazoo Township.

The responding officers determined that the object was the body of an unidentified man. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety assisted in recovering the body shortly after the first responders arrived.

Investigators are now working to identify the man and determine a cause of death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at (269) 381-0391 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.

Another body was found in the Kalamazoo River earlier this month. It was later identified as David Danjuan Williams, a 43-year-old man who police were attempting to pull over for a traffic violation.

Williams did not stop and instead fled from officers. Eventually, the motorcycle had mechanical issues and the officer was able to catch up. Williams then fled on foot through Veteran's Memorial Park and ran into the Kalamazoo River.

His body was found two months later on March 5.
