One dead in officer-involved shooting in Wyoming

The subject who died was a man in his early 50s.

WYOMING, Mich. — Wyoming Police were dispatched around 5:40 p.m. to a suicidal subject who was armed in Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming.

Officers attempted to help the man, when the man in his early 50s displayed a handgun.

According to the Wyoming Police Department, shots were fired by the officers and the man turned the gun on himself, firing what police believe was one round.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he passed away from his injuries.

According to protocol regarding officer-involved shootings, the Kent County Sheriff's Office will investigate. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday, March 31.
