After months of uncertainty, medical marijuana businesses in Michigan finally have some answers.
On Monday, the state released guidelines that will govern medical marijuana businesses for at least the next six months.
"It took us a little longer than what most processes might take that are similar for other programs but we wanted to make sure that we are doing things correctly and we have a good understanding of all the topics that need to be covered as we roll the medical marijuana program out," says Andrew Brisbo the Director of Regulation for the state.
Some of the rules include no drive-thrus at dispensaries and no mobile locations. Edible marijuana cannot be labeled as candy and it must come in child resistant packaging.
The state will start accepting license applications on December 15th. The application fee is $6,000. Licenses could start being issued around the summer of 2018.
