Sugarbush Festival at Blanford Nature Center

Enjoy one of the sweetest Saturdays of the year at the Sugarbush Festival at Blandfod Nature Center.

This Saturday, make your way to the Blandford Nature Center for the one of the sweetest Saturdays of the year.

On March 24, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the 48th annual Sugarbush Festival will be underway.

The festival is meant to highlight the process of turning tree sap into maple syrup. Visitors are able to travel in through time to discover the history and science behind making pure maple syrup.

During the festival, visitors are able to check out various educational stations along Sugarbush Trail. And, to top it all off -- you can taste some of the Blandford Center's maple syrup inside the Sugarhouse.

Among the educational journey, kids can partake in face-painting, Blacksmith demonstrations, sap toss games, draft horse exhibits, historical interpretations, hourly puppet shows, wildlife encounters, live music, old-fashioned toy-making, and much more.

Local food trucks are also on-site selling concessions, plus adults can indulge in Saugatuck Brewing Company's Blueberry Maple Stout.

"After a relatively poor production year in 2017, 2018 has been exceptional for the Sugarbush season for both school groups and production," said Renee Baker, Community Programs Manager. "We're excited for the community to try this year's batch of maple syrup and explore all that Blandford has to offer during Sugarbush season."

The event is open to the public with admission fees of $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Any children ages 2 and under can attend the festival for free. Tickets are available at the door or online.
