SiTE:LAB won't be an ArtPrize venue this year, but they've got bigger news

SiTE:LAB has announced that it will not be an ArtPrize Nine venue -- but no worries, they have a new space!

SiTE:LAB has announced that it will not be an ArtPrize Nine venue -- but no worries, they have a new space!

According to a post on the SiTE:LAB Facebook page, they will not be registering as an official venue this year as they prepare for a larger scale exhibit for ArtPrize 2018. The non-profit arts organization just finished a two year partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Kent County at the Rumsey Street Project.

SiTE:LAB also announced on Thursday that the Madison Church Square Campus has given the non-profit access to a building located at the corner of Franklin Street and Madison Avenue for the next two years. The building, once a high school, offers more than 100,000-square feet of space to use for installations, exhibitions and events.

SiTE:LAB still plans on partnering with other local groups, artists and collaborators and says in the Facebook "the team is thrilled" to use the new space granted to them.

SiTE:LAB will focus on fundraising this year and still wants to hold some smaller scale exhibits and events during ArtPrize Nine at 415 Franklin Street as they prepare the building for full-on use in 2018.

There is one last event happening on Saturday, April 8 at the Rumsey Street Project from noon until 11 p.m. More information about that event can be found here.

Venue registration for ArtPrize Nine closed today and a list of locations has been published on the ArtPrize website. Currently, there are183 venues within three-square miles of the ArtPrize district -- aside from the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Gerald R. Ford International Airport and Rumsey Street -- listed on the website. See all the locations here.
