Fire in Fruitport leaves one injured, multiple storage units damaged, vehicle burned

Responders are bringing in an excavator to sort through the damage.

FRUITPORT, Mich. — A fire at Fruitport Auto Sales and Storage around 3:30 p.m. Sunday has left one person injured, multiple storage units damaged and a vehicle burned, officials say. 

According to responders, 10 to 12 units have roofs that were damaged by the fire.

Fruitport Police closed off Airline Road near Mount Garfield for about an hour and a half while responding to the fire. The road has since been reopened. 

Responders said they're bringing an excavator to the scene to sort through the aftermath of the fire. 

Fruitport, Muskegon and Norton Shores fire crews responded to the fire.

It's currently unknown what caused the fire.
