BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Phillip Ching, 25, died piloting a crop dusting plane on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. near Bronson.

Michigan State Police say that Ching, of Elsie, Mich., was piloting the plane in a field north of Kosmerick and Snow Prairie Roads when it crashed early Saturday evening. The 25-year-old was the only occupant of the single engine aircraft, and it appears that he died on impact.

The official cause of death will be determined with an upcoming autopsy.

Ching was staying in Middleberry, Ind. for the summer working for Lutes Flying Company, the owner of the plane. The company notified Ching's family.

The crash is still being investigated by Michigan State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
