The areas of the freeway that will be the focus of this work would include I-96 between West River Drive and the Grand River and the bridges over US-131, the Grand River, Coit Avenue, Monroe Avenue and West River Drive.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $10 million to improve and reconstruct I-96 bridges in Grand Rapids.

The areas of the freeway that will be the focus of this work would include I-96 between West River Drive and the Grand River and the bridges over US-131, the Grand River, Coit Avenue, Monroe Avenue and West River Drive.

The project also will extend and widen the Plainfield Avenue ramp to WB I-96.

Nightly single-lane closures will start tonight, Monday March 12, on I-96 over the Grand River.

EB I-96 will be closed from approximately mid-April through mid-June, and WB I-96 will be closed from mid-June through mid-August.

The project is expected to wrap up at the end of October.
