Hospice of Michigan provides quality end-of-life care for all, regardless of age, diagnosis, or financial circumstances.  Their signature fundraiser, Barley, BBQ & Beats, is returning to Grand Rapids in May. Barbara Anderson from Hospice of Michigan and local barbecue guy Mike Saladino from Saladino Smoke stopped by to tell us more about the event.  It's a craft cocktail (specifically whiskey), BBQ and music festival, featuring local BBQ vendors, Michigan whiskey distillers making and live bands.  Tickets are $65 pre-sale (or $75 at the door) and each ticket entitles the holder to 3 visits to barbecue vendors and 3 visits to cocktail vendors with the opportunity to purchase additional tastings.  The event is Saturday, May 18th at DeVos Place from 5-9 pm.

Local BBQ vendors include:
American Char, The Grilling Company, Saladino Smoke, Dr. Rolf’s BBQ,  Two Bones BBQ, Bier Distillery, Vegan Baddies, Dickey’s BBQ Pit, Smokin’ Butts BBQ, Mission BBQ and even Olly’s Donuts!

Craft Cocktails from Michigan Distillers will be provided by:
Bier Distillery, Long Road Distillery, Detroit City Distillery, Michigan Moonshine, Mammoth, New Holland, Resist Spirits, Wonderland Distilling and Journeyman Distillery. This year adding Austin Brothers Brewing Company

Entertainment will be provided by Robin Horlock, with a special appearance by Gavin DeGraw.

There’s going to be a special Matching Gift opportunity to support Hospice of Michigan’s Open Access program.  The Steve and Amy Van Andel Foundation has established the “Make it a Double” Matching Gift.  They will match dollar-for-dollar all money raised -up to $25,000.
