ROCKFORD, Mich. - Catholic Charities West Michigan will be launching a new food truck today as part of their God's Kitchen Food & Pantry Programming. The food truck, named God's Roamin' Kitchen, will be focused on rural communities, providing free meals to individuals and families who need a hot meal and may not have access to transportation to come to CCWM's other food sites.

The launch event happens Monday, Oct.22 from 4-6 p.m. at the Our Lady of Consolation Parish located at 4865 11 Mile Rd NE in Rockford.

According to CCWM:

The rural communities outside Grand Rapids are in dire need of access to complimentary meals. Rural Michiganders may struggle with issues of food availability (lack of nearby grocery stores), accessibility and affordability even more than some of their city-dwelling counterparts. According to Feeding America, in regions outside of Grand Rapids like Mecosta County, almost 15% of the population are food insecure which is among the highest rates in Michigan, with an estimated 1,500 food insecure children. On the Menu
