GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) — BarFly Ventures LLC announced plans on Friday to open HopCat – Chicago late this summer in the historic Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The project is pending approval of a rezoning request and permitting.

According to a press release, HopCat - Chicago will feature 130 varieties of craft beer and cider on tap, more than 200 craft beers and ciders in bottles and cans and a full menu. The project will create about 150 new jobs.

“I lived and worked in the city of Chicago for 10 years and consider it a second home, with one of the world’s greatest restaurant and bar scenes,” said Mark Sellers, founder of HopCat, in the release. “We looked at many locations in Chicago over several years and decided on this spot in Lincoln Park because of its walkability, history, and sense of community.”

If approved, this will be HopCat's tenth location.
