Joey Morton, the owner of the Town and Lake Motel in Rangely, said U.S. Marshals came to the motel on Saturday and showed him a photograph of Knight. Morton immediately recognized him as a guest who had stayed at the motel from Jan. 15 to the 19.

Sara Knight's body was discovered on Jan.13. A man believed to be Harold Knight called 911 and reported the murder.

Knight's green Subaru Forester was found in abandoned in a Walmart parking lot in Farmington. There is surveillance footage showing Knight leaving that Walmart on Jan. 16. U.S. Marshals said Knight may have abandoned the vehicle in the Walmart parking lot and returned to the motel in another vehicle.

Morton said Knight checked in under a different name. He said he wore a one piece camouflage suit during his stay that was similar to the one he was wearing in the surveillance video from Walmart in Farmington. Morton said Knight and his vehicle stood out.

"I just noticed that because it just it was kind of bizarre to have Michigan plates," Morton said. "And he was all by himself. "He came out and I said, 'What brings you to Maine?' And he said, 'I'm going to go snowmobiling.' And I looked and he didn't have a snowmobile."

Knight is considered armed and dangerous. U.S. Marshals said if you see him do not approach him and call 911.
