BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — Two innocent bystanders.

That's how law enforcement in Benton Harbor described the two people shot Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Broadway and Britain.

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety (BHDPS) said a white vehicle was in the area firing shots, and they collected evidence in that area.

Two people were shot.

Police said a 5-year-old girl was playing outside in front of her home when she was hit, while an older adult man was driving nearby when he was shot.

Both victims have non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

BHDPS and the Major Crimes Unit are currently working several active leads in the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who has information on this incident to contact D/Sgt. Ben Mahaffie at (269) 845-6948 or mahaffieb@michigan.gov.
