'Multiple officers' at New Era residence

The scene is now clear.

NEW ERA, Mich. — Update: Michigan State Police said troopers from the Hart Post attempted to make contact with a man at the house in New Era. He fled an attempted traffic stop on US-31, police said. 

Troopers did not pursue the driver because he fled at high speeds. As police continued with the investigation, they tried to make contact with the man at the home on 3rd and Ray streets. The man was believed to be alone on the house and would not cooperate with law enforcement. He is not believed to be armed or a danger to the public. 

Police cleared the scene around 12 a.m. Saturday. They will be seeking charged in connection to fleeing the traffic stop.

A house in New Era is surrounded by "multiple officers," according to the Oceana County Sheriff's Department. 

The incident, which is unknown, is contained to one residence on 3rd Street, according to the sheriff's department and a witness, Eugene Zainea. 

There is no threat to the public, according to the department. The incident began at 6 p.m. Friday.

Zainea posted photos of the scene on his Facebook page.
