COVID-19 memorial held Tuesday evening in Grand Rapids

You can participate in the nationwide COVID memorial by lighting a single candle in your window and or ringing a bell at 5:30 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The City of Grand Rapids is honoring the lives lost in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuesday evening the city will host a memorial and illuminate the community with candles for the victims. The color of the lights on the Blue Bride will also be changed to red. 

You can participate in the nationwide COVID memorial by lighting a single candle in your window and or ringing a bell at 5:30 p.m.

A National Moment of Unity & Remembrance will be held in Washington, D.C. during the Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This will feature the lighting of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to honor and remember those who have died.

According to Johns Hopkins University, nearly 400,000 people have died in the U.S. from the virus. In Michigan the death toll is 13,824.
