Holland Police: Man arrested after stabbing, killing his ex-girlfriend

Police arrested the suspect Tuesday at a storage facility on the south side of Holland.

HOLLAND, Mich. - Police say they've arrested the man who stabbed and killed his girlfriend overnight.

According to a release from the Holland Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday at a home located at 579 24th Street, near Holland West School. 

Police were told the woman living at the home was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend, who had broken into her home. When officers arrived, they found the 61-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds and the sliding glass door broken out. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The department of public safety says officers immediately dispatched K-9 units to track down the suspect, as well as interested witnesses, collected evidence and investigated leads. 

Around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, detectives located the woman's 61-year-old ex-boyfriend at a storage facility on the south side of Holland. He was arrested and taken to the police department on an open murder charge.
