A West Michigan gym is changing the channel on politics. Spring Lake Community Fitness and Aquatic Center has decided to get rid of two news channels on their facility's TVs.
Officials with the gym say following the election, tension over politics began between the gym members and over the last few months it has only gotten worse.
This week management sent out an email to its members saying, "due to the many political preferences and indifferences the SLCFAC will be discontinuing CNN news and FOX news as options on the SLCFAC televisions."
The TV's are located in the cardio and weight room areas of the gym. The Facility Director tells WZZM 13 the decision was made after a discussion with all of the managers.
"We had members actually in heated arguments that were creating an environment that was just not conducive to what we promoted, you know health and fitness and happiness and all that," Facility Director Jason Epplett said.
The gym is only a day into the new policy and so far Epplett says most of the feedback has been positive but they did have one person cancel their membership.
