Police investigating after Battle Creek 18-year-old shot at graduation party

Police said they were called to the area of Willis and Main Streets around 12:40 a.m. after Calhoun County dispatch received several calls about shots fired.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A Battle Creek woman was shot in the leg at a graduation party shortly after midnight on Sunday, according to police. 

Police said they were called to the area of Willis and Main Streets around 12:40 a.m. after Calhoun County dispatch received several calls about shots fired. 

When police arrived at the scene, they found several people leaving a large graduation party on Willis Street. They said there was no gun activity at this time. 

Police said a short time later an 18-year-old woman who was at the party arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg. 

She's currently being treated at the hospital and police said they don't believe she was the intended target of the gunshot. 

Police said there aren't any other known injuries, but the incident is under investigation.
