EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A carpenter died Monday after falling from a roof during a job in East Grand Rapids.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) said the accident happened while the 46-year-old carpenter and other employees were working on a dormer.

The workers put a tarp over the dormer to protect it from an incoming rainstorm.

After the rain, the workers returned to the roof, and the man fell while working to remove the tarp.

MIOSHA said he fell onto concrete below and died.

The East Grand Rapids Dept of Public Safety told 13 ON YOUR SIDE it happened in the 500 block of Lakeside Drive SE.
