HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- More than 100 people have become ill after eating at a Holland restaurant, according to the Ottawa Health Department.
The illnesses are linked to WIld Chef Japanese Steakhouse Grill and Bar on West Shore Drive Holland Township. The restaurant voluntarily closed Tuesday and will remain closed at least through Thursday to allow for a health department inspection.
Health officials are looking to hear from anyone who ate at the restaurant between Thursday, March 27 and Tuesday, April 1, regardless of experiencing symptoms or not. Those people are asked to complete an Ottawa Health Department questionnaire at www.surveymonkey.com/s/wildchefto help aid the investigation.
Health officials say most of the people who went to hospital emergency rooms for stomach illness have been treated for dehydration.
Health officials are reminding everyone to practice good hygiene to prevent the further spread of sickness.
Stomach illnesses can be transmitted either by consumption of fecal contaminated food or water, direct person-to-person spread or environmental contamination. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping and low-grade fever.
