KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — A head-on crash in Kalamazoo County has left one person in critical condition, according to Michigan State Police.

Police say the crash happened Monday around 10:15 a.m. on westbound I-94. An Acura passenger car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes and hit a Dodge pickup head-on.

Troopers say the driver of the Acura, a 26-year-old Kalamazoo man, was taken to a hospital for treatment and is listed in critical condition. It is unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police say.

The pickup driver, a 29-year-old Wisconsin man, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the use of drugs may be a factor in the crash. The investigation is still underway.

A portion of westbound I-94 was closed for over an hour Monday. It has since reopened to traffic.
