GREEN CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — All court dates have been adjourned for the man who interrupted a graduation party wielding a machete in Mecosta County because his attorney has filed for a competency hearing.

Green Charter Township's supervisor, Jason Kruse, said he's often in and out of the hall during the week and he's thankful no one was hurt.

He said Timothy Solomon of Hersey showed up at the hall with a machete Saturday afternoon, carrying a bird on his shoulder, and then started screaming at the people at the party, who had rented the building out for the afternoon.

Right now, it's not confirmed what he wanted or why he showed up there in the first place.

"He pulled up into the front of the building and busted out our upper window glass pane on our front door," said Kruse. "When he couldn't gain access that way, he walked around to the side of the building where our main hall is, and then entered that way and engaged in the guests of the party."

Security camera footage shows it was an almost six-minute altercation, with at least four men from the party trying to get Solomon to leave while those inside tried to call the police.

Michigan State Police said he left the party before officers arrived.

Solomon is also accused of driving onto the lawn of the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office and threatening a corrections officer while still wielding the machete.

He's facing a total of 11 felony charges from throughout the day, including assault with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder.

Township employees said Solomon came to the office to speak with Kruse earlier in the week, but he was not in the office that day.

They said he wanted to talk about a variety of topics, including the controversial Gotion Battery Plant project.

Michigan State Police also said there were no injuries at both scenes.

Solomon has a $150,000 bond for the sheriff's department incident and a $50,000 bond for the township hall incident.
