IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — A man is dead after a 20-foot fall onto concrete floor in Ionia Menards, the Ionia County Sheriff's Office says.

An employee was working at the Menards on South State Road in Orange Township, just south of Ionia, on Jan. 9. Around 8:42 p.m., police got a call about a fall inside the location.

Police say a 26-year-old employee from Ionia was working on an elevated platform when he fell. First responders treated him at the scene and he was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigation shows no foul play.

The safety equipment was working at the time of the fall, but was likely not used appropriately, police say. MIOSHA will handle further investigation.
