ALLENDALE CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 32-year-old man is facing serious injuries after he hit a tree with his van. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says it happened when the man was driving west bound on Lake Michigan Dr.

The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Deputies say the Fennville man was driving a white Dodge Caravan when he lost control on the wet road. They say this caused him to enter the raised grass median, striking a tree.

The man was pinned in his vehicle. Allendale and Blendon Township Fire Departments responded to extricate the driver from his van. He was transported by Life EMS to Butterworth Hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say Lake Michigan Dr. was down to one lane in each direction during the investigation, but has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
