Meijer opens express convenience store at Knapp's Corner

The new Meijer Express location will include 24 fuel pumps, a large parking area and a variety of fresh foods.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Meijer has opened up a new express convenience store -- but best of all, there's free ice cream.

The convenience store concept is in front of Meijer's Knapp’s Corner supercenter. It officially opening Friday, May 10.

The new Meijer Express location includes 24 fuel pumps, including diesel and E-85, a larger parking area and a much larger variety of fresh foods than the previous gas station -- including pizza, sushi, rotisserie chicken and a large coffee area.

There's also free wi-fi and a recharging station with a seating area.

Most importantly, the Meijer Express is offering free ice cream for kids every day. A Purple Cow soft serve ice cream machine with free kid’s mini-cones hearkens back to Fred Meijer passing out coupons for free ice cream in stores.
