Former 13OYS anchor, husband release new children's book

Called "This Special Blessing For You," the book aims to be a way for parents to speak a blessing over their children.

HOLLAND, Mich. — A new children's book written by a West Michigan couple is hitting shelves on Tuesday—and you might recognize one of the authors.

Former 13 ON YOUR SIDE anchor Meredith Schrotenboer, who you may remember as Meredith TerHaar, and her husband Eric have released their sixth children's book.

Called "This Special Blessing For You," the book aims to be a way for parents to speak a blessing over their children.

"We just love the message of the book, it's how much God loves our kids, and that we can give them a blessing and they can go out into the world and bless other people, too," Eric said.

Meredith said the idea came from a mentor who wanted to send his grandchildren out with a blessing.

Illustrations for the book were done by Denise Hughes, and Meredith said they loved how they turned out.

"One of our goals was that kiddos would see themselves, they would be represented, that it would be inclusive of all," she said. "And we're just so excited for how it came out and to launch it into the world."

The book can be purchased online anywhere books are sold or locally at Baker Book House. You can also purchase all the Schrotenboers' books and learn more at Fresh Wind Studios.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Schrotenboers will be appearing at Baker Book House for a special signing and story time event from 11 a.m. to noon.

Their seventh book is set to release this summer. To buy a copy of "This Special Blessing For You" and see the rest of the Schrotenboers' books, visit the Fresh Wind Studios website here.
