The Port of Muskegon has an impressive new resource: a 32-foot Firehawk emergency response boat.
The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department put the boat in the water Friday afternoon.
It was paid for with money from the Department of Homeland Security. It will be used by the sheriff's department to patrol Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. It also has two water cannons to fight fires.
And if needed, it will be the lead boat in search and rescue operations.
The sheriff's office has six boats that operate seasonally on Muskegon, White, and Mona Lakes.
