MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — North Muskegon Public Schools will be closed Wednesday due to a cybersecurity breach.

The district announced the closure on Facebook, saying that the schools do not have access to phones or the Internet at this time.

"Our tech department, the MAISD and our insurance company’s cyber-security team are working together to investigate," the post reads. "We are sorry for this unforeseen inconvenience to our families."

District officials said "time is crucial" during this investigation and that closing the schools will prevent interruptions.

It is unclear what caused the security breach and how long it will impact the district.
