Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation need help naming their turf tank.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — People of Grand Rapids, you're needed on very official business.

The Parks and Recreation Department wants you to think of a new name for their turf painting robot, currently known by the moniker 'Turfy McTankface.'

The turf tank uses GPS to paint the lines on athletic fields at Grand Rapids parks. Turfy has freed up the maintenance team's time for other important tasks since he joined them in 2021.

But after three years, Mr. McTankface is simply ready for a new chapter, he told his team.

"The [Blank] Mc[Blank]face trend has run its course and is, quite frankly, a little lazy," the tank said in a statement. "Grand Rapids can do better."

You can help Turfy out by submitting a new name idea for him on the Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation website here

They can be as silly as you like, but only family-friendly names will be selected. Submissions will be accepted through March 15.

The Parks team will select their ten favorite names and put them to a vote from March 18 through 22. Check back on this page to vote for your favorite.

Turfy McTankface will be very thankful for your service.
