Shooting at Jenison Meijer, one person in custody

Police have one man in custody. He is being held on unrelated charges.

JENISON, Mich. - Deputies are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a Meijer in Jenison early Saturday morning.

According to deputies on scene, the shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Meijer on Baldwin Street.

Authorities say the incident involved two vehicles and initially started at a different location before ending in Jenison. Shots were fired at one vehicle and then it was driven to Meijer where it was shot again in the parking lot. The driver of that vehicle ran into the store for help. The car had been shot at and had flat tires.

When officers arrived at the store, the second vehicle involved sped off. Authorities consider the driver of this vehicle armed and dangerous. No vehicle description was provided at this time.

The Meijer was placed on lockdown for about 30 minutes as the investigation continued.

The man who ran into Meijer for help was arrested on unrelated charges.

No injures have been reported and names are not being released at this time.
