WALKER, Mich. - A water main break in Walker has closed down a neighborhood street.
It happened on Gaynor Avenue Northwest between Harding Street and Hillside Drive before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
The water main break created an eight foot by 10 foot sinkhole on Gaynor. That road is closed while crews make repairs.
Mark Koning, Walker's Director of Public Works, says it was a typical six inch water main that broke and water has been turned off to the area. Grand Rapids supplies service to that area and they have a crew out making repairs.
Koning says they hope to have the road back open later Thursday or early Friday.
