WYOMING, Mich. — Corewell Health is bringing an estimated 240 jobs to Wyoming with its new proposed consolidated service center.
The center will provide space for Corewell Health's supply chain offices and document and mail services. It will also have 36,000 square feet of shell space.
The center will have a dedicated parking area with EV charging stations for lab courier fleet vehicles.
During a Wyoming Planning Commission meeting on March 20, it was said the center will be located at 300 36th Street SW, which used to be an auto plant property.
The meeting also mentioned that as part of the project, Corewell Health will develop a pedestrian path along the east edge of the property to provide residents with a direct route to the city's new marketplace at 301 36th Street SW.
Meeting notes state that while the site is mostly concrete now, the center will have "significant" green areas and landscaping.
In the meeting, it was said the center will have three shifts with an estimated 240 employees, including the weekends.
A vote on a motion made to grant site plan approval with four conditions was passed unanimously.
The conditions consist of:
- The site plan approval is contingent on finalizing the site plan to satisfy all comments required by the City of Wyoming Engineering Department
- The segment of the watermain considered "public" should be minimized to the necessary length required to create a looped system from 36th Street to Buchanan Avenue
- Roof access needs approval from the fire department
- The center must meet all fire codes through a full building plan review
Corewell said more information on the project will be released near the middle or end of June 2024.
