KENT COUNTY, Mich — After nearly a year, a Kent County man is still in disbelief after winning over $250,000 from the Michigan Lottery.

The 61-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Vitale's on West River Drive in Comstock Park last year. He matched his easy pick The Jack numbers to eight of the 20 Club Keno numbers drawn.

“I always play Club Keno whenever I’m at Vitale’s,” said the player. “I saw that I won, but I didn’t believe it, so I went home and put my ticket information in on MichiganLottery.com. When the website confirmed my $250,314 prize, it was shocking and felt unreal!.

“I held onto the ticket for so long for tax purposes, so it’s a relief to finally cash it! I was so nervous something was going to happen to the ticket, even though it was locked up in a safe spot. I’ve had the ticket for nearly a year and it still hasn’t hit me that this is real!”

The man recently visited lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He plans to take a trip to Las Vegas and save the rest of his winnings.

Winning lottery tickets expire after a year of not being claimed. The Michigan Lottery said the player claimed his winnings with just a few weeks to spare.

There is still a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket bought in Southfield that has not been claimed. It expires on Friday, March 15.
