Donald Trump now is slated to take the stage later in the afternoon at the DeltaPlex.

Trump had been slated to take the stage around noon but is delayed in Chicago, according to a campaign spokesman. Thousands of people are standing in front of Trump's podium and taking their seat inside the facility Monday, Oct. 31, ready to see the Republican presidential candidate speak.

Michigan Republican chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel and former U.S. Rep. Peter Hoekstra, R-Holland, were among the first speakers at the Halloween rally.

Trump last campaigned at the DeltaPlex in December 2015 with at least 7,000 people.

Trump later will hold a rally on the east side of the state at 3 p.m. at Macomb Community College in Warren, Mich.

A poll done last weekend for the Free Press/WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and their outstate partners by EPIC-MRA of Lansing showed Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state, leading Trump, a Republican businessman, casino developer and reality TV star, 41-34 percent in a four-way race that also includes Gary Johnson, who got 9 percent and Green Party nominee Jill Stein, who had 3 percent.

Pop singer Cher also is in Michigan today to rally for Clinton, with stops in Kalamazoo, East Lansing and Flint.
