OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Ottawa County Commissioner Rebekah Curran has announced her bid to become the next U.S. Senator from Michigan.
"America has always been a land where diverse people can come together and create a unique and wonderful bond," Curran told 13 ON YOUR SIDE in a statement. "(This) allowed each American, to live their life by their own conscience, without any interference from their government. That is no longer the case and it concerns me deeply. This is my country and I will not sit idly by while others try to destroy it! Therefore, I am announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate for the state of Michigan."
A Republican, Curran was elected to the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners in 2022 alongside a new majority of members aligned with the conservative Ottawa Impact group.
While a Republican, Curran is not currently affiliated with Ottawa Impact.
Curran, alongside candidates including former congressman Mike Rogers, Peter Meijer and Justin Amash, will aim to take the seat of retiring Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow.
This is a breaking story and will be updated as developments become available.
