National Dump the Pump Day is sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association.
This is the 13th annual observance. It encourages people to ride public transportation instead of driving themselves. This saves money for households as well as help communities grow and prosper.
According to the APTA, a two person household could save an average of more than $10,160 annually by downsizing to one car.
