'Very unlike him' | Grand Haven man was on his way to pick up his son before he disappeared

Jeffrey Scarbrough has not been seen or heard from since Saturday evening, and his family and friends want to know where he is and what happened to him.

FRUITPORT, Mich. — Family and friends have not seen or heard anything from 29-year-old Jeffrey Scarbrough since Saturday night and people concerned about his welfare are searching for him.

They say the Fruitport native who now lives in Grand Haven would not just disappear. The last time anyone says they heard from Scarbrough was Saturday evening when he used his phone while driving from a golf course in North Muskegon to pick up his young son in Fruitport and take him to Chuck E Cheese.

A family friend said Scarbrough was texting his son, saying he was going to be there in 29 minutes, but something happened on the way. Now, family and friends are trying to find out what happened and where he is.

“We are very concerned because he hasn't reached out to any of us in the family since then,” said Roy Scarbrough, Sr., the missing man’s father. “We are a tight family group, so any problems he would have, he would always contact me or his brother.”

The missing man’s family, friends and West Michigan police departments are asking people to be on the lookout for the 2003 white Honda Pilot with a Gulf War license plate, which Scarbrough was driving.

His cell phone last pinged a tower just south of Holton Road and west of US-31.

There is a Facebook page called Help Us Find Jeffrey Scarbrough where people can get the latest on places and times to join the search and any fresh information.

“We are just at a complete loss,” said friend Ina Terwilliger. “He is a happy, outgoing person everybody loves. This is very unlike him.”
