HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - Unity Christian rushed for 441 yards on Friday night to beat Holland Christian 53-35.
Holland Christian opened the scoring on an 18 yard run by Wilson Wirebaugh for a 7-0 lead. Noah Sorenson returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a score to give the Crusaders an 8-7 lead. Hayden Large scored from 29 yards out as Unity Christian took a 16 to 7 lead after one quarter.
Large's second touchdown of the game made it 24 to 7. Wirebaugh's second touchdown run cut Unity's lead to 24-14 at the half.
The teams would alternate scores in the third quarter. Max Buikema scored twice for Unity Christian and Wirebaugh scored his third and fourth touchdowns to make it 38-28 after three quarters.
Large and Buikema both scored their third touchdown of the game in the fourth sandwiched around a Wirebaugh to Matthew Spaulding touchdown pass to make the final 53 to 35.
Large finished with 202 yards rushing and three scores for the Crusaders while Buikema added 70 yards and three scores.
Wirebaugh lead Holland Christian with 380 yards passing and four rushing touchdowns.
