Lowell wrestling thankful for community support as season begins

The Red Arrows are just excited the wrestling season is here.

LOWELL, Mich. — If there is any team that has been the definition of dominance in this state, it's the Lowell High School wrestling program.

Back in February, the Red Arrows won their 10th consecutive state championship.

Believe it or not, winning 11 in a row is not the first thing on Lowell's mind as a new year begins.

The Red Arrows are just excited the wrestling season is here.

Kids in the community grow up wanting to wrestle at the high school. The Lowell youth wrestling program is top notch and has grown so much over the years to allow the Red Arrows to keep winning at state.

Head coach RJ Boudro says the community support is the key to the program's success.

"It’s one of those things where it’s not one without the other," Boudro said. "We have a great program because of our community and our community really backs us so it’s not like we would be good without our community. We have to have that. The community builds off of what we do. I do think it’s special. If you went to the state championships last year and saw what we saw, we had the biggest crowd by far. I think a lot of people think you get tired of it. It gets old doing the same thing over and over but I just think it’s growing and it’s building and I think it’s the kids getting excited."

The quest for 11 in a row begins on December 6 for the Red Arrows with their first match of the season.
