The Pontiac Silverdome demolition fails, and everybody's got jokes

Fans couldn't help themselves from drawing connections between the Silverdome's failed demolition Sunday and the Detroit Lions' past failures there

Of course it would fail.

The Pontiac Silverdome was set to begin a yearlong demolition process Sunday morning in front of onlookers around the stadium, but the first detonation failed to weaken the support beams and bring down the upper section.

So all that anticipation was for nothing (well, for now). On Twitter, people couldn't help themselves but make the connection between this failure and the run of Detroit Lions football fans experienced at the Silverdome from 1975-2001, which featured just one playoff victory.
