29-year-old Muskegon man killed when trying to cross SB US-31

Police say the crash happened just before 6 a.m. on southbound US-31 near the Sherman Boulevard exit.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man was killed early Friday morning when he attempted to cross US-31 in Muskegon and was hit by a car.

Police said the crash happened just before 6 a.m. on southbound US-31 near the Sherman Boulevard exit. A 29-year-old Muskegon man had tried to cross the freeway when he was hit.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

An investigation is now underway. Police said more detailed information will be released when it becomes available.

Southbound US-31 was completely closed at the Laketon Avenue exit for several hours while crews investigated.
